Diana A. Pettit has more than forty years of experience teaching piano. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Bob Jones University in 1976 and her Master of Music Education degree from Boston University in 2007. During her career, Diana has taught piano students with widely varying musical goals who are of all ages and levels. Her performance activities include many years serving as a church musician.
In addition to her piano teaching experience, Diana has significant teaching experience in the music education field, particularly in the area of music education curricula design and implementation. From 2007 – 2010, Diana advised and facilitated over 70 Boston University graduate music education students in their thesis preparations in the Boston University Distance Education Master of Music Education degree program.
Diana is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and has held offices at the local, state, and national levels of the organization. She has served as the Southern Division Commissioner for MTNA, Certification Chair for the Alabama Music Teachers Association (AMTA), State Judges Coordinator for the AMTA, and three terms as President of the Huntsville Music Teachers Association.
Diana also maintains active memberships in the Music Teachers National Association, the Alabama Music Teachers Association, the Huntsville Music Teachers Association, the National Federation of Music Clubs, and the Huntsville Music Study Club. She was a Founding Teacher in the United States of the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program (formerly the Royal American Conservatory Examinations), and is responsible for bringing the RCM examinations to the Huntsville area.
Diana is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM).
